FQMS Attendance Policies & Procedures For Distance Learning
Please email your absence notes/questions to: FQMSabsence@hcpss.org. The email should include the child's name, the date(s), or period(s) if absence is a partial day, of the absence, and the reason for the absence. The email must be received within 5 days of the absence.

Congratulations on completing the first quarter! We are SO proud of our students and staff! Here are a few of our celebrations from Quarter 1: We had a 99.4 attendance rate - thank you so much for all of your collaboration and support in keeping students engaged in the first quarter. As of 11/5 - our students received over 195 POSITIVE office referrals. We are so proud of our students and grateful for the staff taking time to elevate and celebrate our kids! Also, we received over 110 positive staff shout outs to recognize and celebrate the hard work of our staff- thank you so much for uplifting our staff. As a reminder if you want to celebrate a staff member that has made a difference you can share that here:
As a reminder today is a half day and our schedule is as follows:
8:30-9:15 – Period 1
9:30-10:15 – Period 2
10:30-11:15 – Period 3
11:30-12:15 – Period 4
As a reminder, there are several important dates and events coming up for HCPSS and FQMS:
HCPSS Virtual Town Hall - The Board of Education will host a virtual town hall regarding Spring Semester on November 9th. Details and opportunities to submit questions can be found here
PTSA Date Change - Due to the HCPSS town hall being scheduled on November 9th - PTSA will move their meeting to 6:30 p.m. on November 10th. Please go to hcpss.me, google meet and use the Code: FQPTSANov. You can use your student login or I can admit you to the meeting. The Quarter 2 Kick Off information will be shared at the PTSA meeting with parents.
Quarter 2 FQMS Kick Off - As a reminder, we want ALL students to attend their 8:30 support session on November 9th. We will be doing a Quarter 2 Kick Off to review best practices, uplift the students and encourage an awesome start to Quarter 2. Parents are welcome and encouraged to sit with their child for the session. We are in this together and want to end Quarter 1 and start Quarter 2 strong!!
Book Club - Book Club with Ms. Chrobak/Ms. Hewitt and Ms. Knight - our next meeting is Tuesday 11/10 at 11:30 - FQBookClub is the code (we will be discussing Part 1 of "Tangerine"). Students can join the Book Club at any time. Books can be picked up (contactless) from FQMS.
Art - Quarter 2 - Does your student have Art Class Quarter 2? If you did not pick up your art packet during materials distribution at the start of the year - please email Clara_Fritsch@hcpss.org so we can get you any materials that you need.

Media Center Book Check-Out - Curbside Pickup. Students place books on hold using the PAC, wait until items are ready by checking their outlook email*, then come get them on the next pick up day.
Pick up Days: Mondays and Thursdays
Time: 10am - 2pm
Location: Rolling cart under overhang by the main entrance. Books will be in a large orange envelope labeled with the student name.
Returns: Return your books on the same days/times, on the same cart.
OVERDUE BOOKS - Please return overdue books as soon as possible so we can refill our library shelves for the 20-21 school year. 6th-grade students may return overdue books which were borrowed from elementary school right here at FQMS.
*To check your outlook email, go to HCPSS.me and choose Office365 then login with your HCPSS account. Click on the Outlook icon on the left side. Check your student Outlook emails regularly to see what is ready to pick up and what you need to return! If you have any questions, please contact Mrs. Taylor at heather_taylor@hcpss.org

Reflections - The Reflections Program allows our students to express themselves through their talents in the ARTS! Each year Maryland students participate in Reflections and produce amazing entries in all six Reflections arts areas. The Theme for 2020-2021 is ”I Matter Because…”. If you are interested in submitting in one of the categories (dance choreography, film production, literature, music composition, photography, and/or visual arts), please email: fqmspta.president@gmail.com. Entries are due by December 1. Note the new rule changes for this year:
